New twist on Ugly Duckling: NC State's family series to present show featuring cutting edge lighting technology

NC State's performing arts series includes a family-friendly Kidstuff series. And this month, it will feature a really fun twist on the classic "The Ugly Duckling."

We all know The Ugly Duckling as the classic tale of belonging by Hans Christian Andersen, but we’ve never seen it quite like this! Using cutting edge lighting technology, Lightwire Theater, brings the beloved story to life in a blaze of color. The result is an unforgettable theatrical experience blending electroluminescent wire with mesmerizing puppetry, innovative technology and beautiful dance.

Young readers will be in awe at how The Ugly Ducking (and friends) spring to life on the stage! Don’t miss this electrifying live version of a classic story – complete with music ranging from classical to pop.

The show is best for kids in kindergarten to fourth grade. Tickets are $12 (and free for kids 3 and under).

The show takes place at Stewart Theatre in the Talley Student Union at 3 p.m., March 24. More information and tickets are on NC State's website.
